Follow for Nepal’s Weather update

1.http://dhm.gov.np - Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM)’s website that has mandate to monitor all hydrological and meteorological activities in Nepal. Climate Normal, Monsoon Onset and Withdrawal information, Extreme Rainfall and Temperature Monitoring Report, Kathmandu Valley Rainfall Monitoring, Daily Temperature/Rainfall Monitoring, Climatic Articles, Reports and Papers, Rainfall Accumulation charts, Long Range Forecast, Seasonal Temperature Monitoring etc. are available. Data for research can be requested here. 

2. http://www.mfd.gov.np - Belongs to Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD). Provides 24 hour weather state of the country. Weather forecast and observation of at least 20 major stations are viewable. Weather Forecast Bulletin provides analytical weather prediction for at least 3 days including next 24 hours Warning/Advisory. Specialized 24 hour forecast is issued for mountaineering. 72 hour Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) Output for Precipitation, Temperature, Wind and Wind Gust are embedded. Animated satellite imagery from Himawari satellite shows movement of cloud over Nepal and beyond. Following this website and its social media links is advisable for ‘all’ at least during summer Monsoon in Nepal. 

3. http://www.hydrology.gov.np - Under Flood Forecasting Section, Hydrology Division of DHM This office remains open for 24 hours during monsoon season. DHM worked hard to bring website to this level that focused on river watch and flood in major river and basins. Real time data provides information on Steady, Rising and Falling trend of ‘river’ to predict warning and danger level. Website starts alarming as level marks warning. Other information are flood hazard map and community outreach. Flood bulletins are uploaded here. 

4. http://namis.gov.np - Dedicated to farmers and farming community. Webportal with entire information necessary and existing in Nepal for the sake of agriculture. Established under the project named Agriculture Management Information System (AMIS) of Building Resilience to Climate related Hazards (Pilot Program on Climate Resilience) implemented by Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development (MoALD). Portal’s interlinked with MFD’s website. Interactive features available for generating charts and graphs out of weather data. Weekly Agromet Advisory Bulletin (AAB) initiated by MoALD are also available.
